Capacitor discharge stud welders: CD-08 and CD-10
Energy is stored in a bank of capacitors, charged to a preset voltage, then discharged straight through the stud. The current is very high and lasts only a few milliseconds, so welds are strong with negligible discolouration or deformity. These machines suit smaller studs onto thinner base material, and weld mild steel and stainless steel studs onto MS and SS sheet, and aluminium studs onto aluminium sheet.
